Who enforces it
Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, part of the provincial government, enforces construction safety in Alberta. It is a separate body from the workers compensation board: safety enforcement runs through the provincial government, while compensation is handled by WCB Alberta. Workers compensation and clearances
Contractors generally must register with the province's workers compensation board, and general contractors commonly require a clearance letter before a sub mobilizes. In Alberta that board is WCB Alberta, separate from Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, which handles safety enforcement.
