Blue Crane Roofing Division

Roofing software that runs a whole Ontario roofing company.

Blue Crane Roofing Division is roofing business software that Blue Crane Works, in Hamilton, Ontario, builds for one roofing company at a time. It measures a roof from the address, prices the material list at your supplier's prices, gets the proposal signed and the deposit paid, dispatches your crews, runs their phone app and time clock, and files the photo report for the adjuster. Your company's name is on it, from $249 a month, with no per-user fees.

What happens between the first call and the paid invoice?

Seven steps, one record. The roof you measured on the first call is the same roof on the proposal, the dispatch board, the crew's phone and the final invoice. Nothing is typed twice and nothing lives in a second app.

  1. Measure

    The roof, from the address

Squares, pitch, faces and every edge from Ontario's open lidar and aerial photos, with how close it is likely to be.

    How the measure works
  2. Material list

    Counted and priced

Bundles, rolls, trims and fasteners for the system you pick, priced at your supplier's prices first and blank where no price exists.

    How lines are priced
  3. Proposal

On your letterhead, with your terms

The measured roof becomes a priced proposal the homeowner opens from a link, with your terms and the roof measurement clause.

    What Ontario requires
  4. Signed and paid

    Signature, then deposit

Signed online, filed on the job, deposit taken by card into your own Stripe account. Only now can the job be scheduled.

    Signatures and deposits
  5. Dispatch

Onto a crew and a day

The signed roof waits in the tray until you drag it onto a crew. Squares a day decide how many days it takes.

    The dispatch board
  6. Crew day

    On the crew's phone

My day with directions and the lead's number, and a clock that marks shop, drive and site time for payroll.

    The crew app
  7. Report

    Photos and words, one PDF

Walk the roof, take photos, talk. The app files each photo with what was said and makes one tagged report.

Why would a roofing company want its own app instead of a subscription?

Because a roofing company is not an average company, and subscriptions are built for the average. A subscription asks you to fit your quoting, your crews and your paperwork to its screens, charges you per person as you hire, and usually still needs a second product for roof reports, a third for photos and a group chat for the crew. The Roofing Division is the other way round: we sit with you and the people doing the work, then shape the app around how your company already sells, schedules and builds a roof.

It is still one product with one engine underneath. The measuring, the material list, the board and the crew app are proven live today; what changes for your company is the shape: your terms, your price book, your crews, your menu, your letterhead. The full comparison, with the cases where an off-the-shelf product is the better pick, is on what a roofing app replaces.

Is any of this running today, or is it a plan?

Running. The Roofing Division engine runs live today in two apps: Blue Crane's own roofing company app, which holds made-up customers and is what we walk owners through, and a Southern Ontario roofing company's own app, carrying its own name and logo. Both measure real Ontario roofs from open data such as the province's lidar Digital Surface Model, write priced material lists, and run a dispatch board and a crew time clock. Which lidar survey sits under your service area, from Toronto to London and Niagara, is on Southern Ontario coverage.

We say what is not built, too. The photo report is built; filing an estimate in an insurer's own system (Xactimate or Symbility) is not. Texting customers, card payments, QuickBooks and Gmail are connections we switch on per company once your accounts are in place. If a page here says something runs, it runs.

What does the Roofing Division cost?

One price for the company, never per user: from a $1,995 build and $249 a month, or $0 down from $419 a month for the first year. Add a website built so Google, ChatGPT and Copilot can read it, and the two run as one system on the Run plan, from a $3,995 build and $449 a month, or $0 down from $799 a month for the first year. All prices in Canadian dollars, plus HST.

Three ways to pay, for the Roofing Division app alone and for the app with a website. Every price is a floor ("from"); yours is quoted in writing before anything is signed.
Way to payRoofing Division appApp and website (Run)

Your crews, your office and your customers never add to the bill. Larger builds, such as several companies under one owner, are quoted in writing before anything is signed. The full ladder is on our pricing page; how the custom application service works for every trade is on Nameplate custom applications.

Where does a roofing company's data live?

Your app runs on Microsoft Azure, on infrastructure Blue Crane operates. Its records sit in Microsoft's East US 2 region and are handled under Canadian privacy law. Uploaded files are stored separately. Your app's records are not held in Canada, and we say so plainly; the service-by-service picture is on our data page.
