Assistant and agentsCan roofing software answer calls and texts after hours?
Yes, with limits we state plainly: a Blue Crane Roofing Division app can be joined by agents that answer your website chat, your phone and your texts when you cannot, and hand you the customer's name, number and job. The website chat agent runs for clients today; the phone and text agents are built to order. Every app already has its own assistant on GPT-6.1 Sol that keeps a memory of your company. Blue Crane Works builds it in Hamilton, Ontario.
What's waiting today?
Two signed roofs are waiting for a day. One invoice is unpaid: the Stoney Creek tear-off. And overnight the website chat agent took an enquiry about a leak over a kitchen.

What does the assistant inside a roofing app do?
It works from your own records. The assistant reads your new requests, today's jobs, your invoices and your customers, and answers in plain words: what is waiting, who is next, who has not paid. It writes the text or email you would have written, and replies to reviews. When the answer is an action, such as sending a text or marking an invoice paid, it offers a button, and nothing in your app changes until you tap it.
| You ask | What it does |
|---|---|
| "What's waiting today?" | Lists new requests, today's jobs and unpaid invoices from your own records |
| "Tell the Stoney Creek customer we start Thursday, not Wednesday" | Writes the text in your voice and offers it to send; it goes when you tap |
| "Who still owes us?" | Names each unpaid invoice, with a button to text the customer a reminder |
| "Answer this review" | Drafts a reply for you to read and post |
| "Price a chimney flashing repair" | Builds a draft beside the chat at the prices you have confirmed before, and leaves a line blank where you have no price yet |
How does the assistant learn a roofing company?
By keeping a written memory, not by retraining a model. Every time you confirm a quote, the app writes down what you charged, who it was for and how long the job took; it also keeps how you like your quotes laid out and your usual payment plan, plus short notes from your conversations. It reads that memory every time you ask it something, so in the second month it knows your prices and customers in a way it could not on the first day.
Two rules keep it honest. The assistant can never write a price into its own memory: a price gets there only from a quote you confirmed or a rate you typed yourself. And the memory is yours to read: you can open it, see what it remembers, and wipe it. The roofs, material lists and crews it talks about are the same records as the measure and material list and the dispatch board.
Is my company's data used to train the AI?
No. The assistant runs on GPT-6.1 Sol inside Blue Crane's own Microsoft Azure, not on a public chatbot account. Microsoft's data, privacy and security page for its OpenAI models says the prompts and answers "are NOT available to OpenAI" and "are not used to train, retrain, or improve the base models", and that the models are stateless, so nothing you type is stored in the model. The memory lives in your app's own records, not in the model.
Where it runs, plainly: the model is processed in Microsoft's United States data zone, and your app's records sit in Microsoft's East US 2 region under Canadian privacy law. The service-by-service picture is on our data page.
Can the app answer my phone, texts and website chat after hours?
It can, through three agents that work beside the app, and we say which of them run today. Each one says it is an AI, answers only from facts you approve, takes the customer's name, how to reach them and what the job is, and puts that in front of you. When you are on a roof or it is nine at night, the call or message reaches you as a name, a number and a job instead of a missed call.
| Agent | What it does | Running today |
|---|---|---|
| Website chat agent | Answers questions on your website from your approved facts and sends you the enquiry by email and into your office records | Yes, on a client's website, sending real enquiries to the owner |
| Phone agent | Answers your line when you cannot, and texts you the name, the number read back, the job, how urgent and where, with the transcript | On Blue Crane's own private line; built for your number when you order it |
| Text agent | Answers texts to your business number from your approved facts and sends you the customer's details | Built for your number when you order it; the STOP opt-out and consent record already run |
What will the agents not do?
They do not book a roof, promise a date or quote a price on their own; the job comes to you and you decide. They do not call customers back for you; placing calls on your behalf is not built. And no agent can make every caller stay on the line: some people hang up on any machine. What an agent does is make sure the ones who leave their details reach you, in your app, with what they said. How each agent works, with its own setup choices, is on our AI agents page.
What does the assistant cost?
The assistant comes with every Roofing Division app, from a $1,995 build and $249 a month, or $0 down from $419 a month for the first year, with no fee per user. All prices in Canadian dollars, plus HST. The phone and text agents are built to order and quoted in writing before anything is signed; the website chat agent is $50 a month on a managed website. The full ladder is on the Roofing Division overview.
